Live Events
In addition to brand partnerships, my team plays a key role in the development of NBCU’s Upfront Presentation, annual tech conference (One22, One23, One24), and other large-scale events. My work on these events typically falls into two categories: developing larger-than-life on-stage moments and drafting comic remarks for talent.
“BravoCon Moment” - 2022 NBCUniversal UpFront
With BravoCon being a key priority for NBCUniversal in 2022, the company turned to us to for a show-stopping moment that would get people talking and spark interest amongst advertisers.
We set out to make the audience at Radio City feel what Bravo-holics feel when they walk into BravoCon — and we did just that.
Our BravoCon Moment started with a pre-taped piece in which a Bravo-loving couple race for their phones in an attempt to win a free BravoCon pass. They bonk heads…
…only to wake up on-stage at Radio City at the center of a choreographed fever dream filled with Bravolebrities from the network’s biggest shows.
The BravoCon moment not only stole headlines, with coverage in publications including Deadline, AdWeek, and AdAge, but led to a significant increase in brand partnerships compared to the previous BravoCon. BravoCon 2022 saw a 300% increase in the number of sponsors, the addition of 11 new advertiser categories, and a 400% increase in revenue across NBCUniversal’s One Platform.
Comic Remarks
When it comes to live events, I’m often tasked with drafting comic remarks for our talent that convey key messaging, get laughs, and serve as a launching pad for our late night and SNL writing staffs to build upon.
Some of the folks I’ve drafted remarks for include Ana Gasteyer, Laverne Cox, Mikey Day, Marcello Hernandez, Bowen Yang, Heidi Gardner, Kenan Thompson, and Seth Meyers.
Ahead of Comcast’s 2024 “Converge” event, for example, I was tasked with drafting remarks for Kenan Thompson’s live appearance and scripting a pre-taped segment for Seth Meyers. Deadline covered the event, featuring two of my jokes for Seth in their write-up (below).
